Administrative Coordinator (Full-time) Vanguard Counseling Center (VCC)

Responsible for ensuring thorough and accurate completion of documents relating to client registration, insurance verification and the collection of self-pay and/or co-payments prior to service(s) being rendered.  Provide the Corporate Fiscal department with the necessary information to be able to accurately bill insurance carriers, jurisdictions and self-pays. Provide day-to-day administrative functionality for VCC. Utilize customer service skills to provide quality administrative support to VCC. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of third party payor procedures
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Cash Handling Procedures essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook

Vocational Counselor (Full-time): Phoenix/Demeter

The vocational counselor will utilize standard employment assessment instruments to determine vocational strengths and weaknesses, aptitude and educational level. The counselor will assist the client in the development of an individual employment training plan and an individual employment search plan. The Counselor will link clients to basic skills training or vocational training services and train clients in preparing for the employment search through workshops and one-on-one sessions. The Counselor will oversee and monitor the client’s employment searches.  The Counselor will be responsible for the supervision of a part time job developer worked who will develop needed job opportunities in the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Vocational or Rehab Counseling or related field
  • Five (5) years of increasing responsibility in this area preferred 
  • Master's degree in Vocational Counseling or related field preferred. 

Trainer (PRN)

Training Instructor for mandatory classes in CPR/First Aid and Crisis Intervention to VSU staff; 3 days/month. Weekends as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Lay Responder with American Red Cross (preferred)
  • Able to Certify as Crisis Intervention instructor with 30-60 days

Administrative/Development Manager (Full-time):
Provide executive assistance for CEO, including communication to Board members and internal/external stakeholders, representing agency at community events/meetings, as well as supporting and enhancing development and fundraising operations of agency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Human Services, Business, or related field
  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, electronic mail, etc.) 
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred

Housekeeping Specialist (Full-time):

Oversee and ensure overall cleanliness and product quality of the residential facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to overseeing:

  • Monitoring clients cleaning of facilities
  • Scheduling carpet cleaning on regular basis
  • Clean and remove spots from corridor, walls, and doors
  • Vacuum, sweep, and/or mop hallways, stairwells
  • Flip mattresses
  • Clean kitchen, including stove, floors, walls, counters, dishes, utensils, health & safety items, etc.
  • Clean bathrooms, including floors, walls, shower curtains, fixtures, etc.
  • Clean bedrooms, including beds, windows, lighting, storage, floors/walls, etc
  • Replace/purchase bedding
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Residential Home experiences preferred
  • Self-starting personality with even disposition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Communicate well with clients and coworkers
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers ; team player
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push, or pull equipment, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Lifting may include equipment up to 40 pounds

Registered Nurse (Full-Time):

Responsible for medical assessment, medical monitoring and oversight of medication management of residents of four Addiction Treatment Centers in Northern Virginia.  Works in collaboration with the physician, psychiatrist, counselors, residential staff and outside agencies.  Promotes staff development regarding the medical aspects of addiction and recovery, safe medication management, and provides training with a focus on health and wellness.   • Interest and familiarity with recovery/ addictions/psychiatric nursing.

Fitness Specialist (Part-Time): Boys & Girls Recovery Lodges

This position will develop and implement a physical fitness program for adolescents in residential substance abuse treatment program.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education or experience equal to the following:

  • A.S./A.S. Degree in Health Education/Physical Education or related field
  • Two (2) years experience in recovery/sports preferred
  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal skills
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and good driving record
  • Computer skills

Residential Manager (Full-Time): Boys Recovery Lodge

This position is responsible for the management of an adolescent boys residential substance abuse treatment program.  Position assures that program functions according to Vanguard’s procedures.

 Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education or experience equal to the following:

  • Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as an addiction counselor, two of which must be in a supervisory capacity       

  • Knowledge of therapeutic milieu and experience working with large residential community

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Addiction Counseling Knowledge of Virginia licensure requirements and Human Rights regulation

  • Knowledge of the 12 Core Counseling Functions and AA/NA principles

  • Computer skills

Residential Coordinator (Full-Time): Boys Recovery Lodge

This position is responsible for maintaining smooth function of house through supervision of Residential staff and Resident Community Structure position assures adequate and appropriate staff coverage of evening shift.  Position maintains urine and search, monitors client fund procedures, addresses client issues and oversees weekend transportation as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:  (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)

Any combination of education or experience equal to the following:

    • Associates degree in human services field or equivalent years working in residential addiction treatment field
    • Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CSAC-A, CAC, CSAC) or able to obtain within one (1) year.           
    • Supervisory experience in the addiction field or comparable setting
    • Certification in CPR, First Aid, Medication Assistance and Food Sanitation a plus
    • Knowledge of recreation therapy, family therapy and behavior management techniques
    • Familiarity with 12-step recovery programs
    • Computer skills

Residential Supervisor (Full-time): Girls Recovery Lodge

Implement and maintain therapeutic milieu through supervision of Residential Staff and Residential Community Structure.  Responsible for maintaining facility as a drug free environment.  Oversees Residential Life Trainings and recreational components of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor or eligible within one year
  • Knowledge of therapeutic milieu and experience working with large residential community
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Virginia licensure requirements and Human Rights regulation
  • Knowledge of the 12 Core Counseling Functions
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, email, etc.

`Residential Specialist (Full-time): Girls Recovery Lodge

Plan and execute client activities for adolescent girls, interpret intake processes and participate in ensuring personal program needs are met.  Will also help maintain drug-free environment, provide life skills/resident life training and 12-step education.  Other responsibilities include monitoring/documenting intervention and responding to medical/psychiatric/behavioral emergencies. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in substance abuse treatment setting
  • Knowledge of chemical addiction treatment and 12-Step recovery process
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population
  • Computer skills
  • Valid drivers license and safe driving record

Bilingual Residential Specialist (Full-time – Overnight/Tuesdays-Saturdays): Phoenix/Nuevo Dia

Maintain smooth operation of house through Resident Community Structure.  Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Remain awake throughout shift and makes hourly bed checks of all clients.  Use Bed Checklist and note times of rounds.
  • Insures that “lights out” rules are followed
  • Confronts inappropriate client behavior and documents intervention
  • Responds to medical/psychiatric/behavioral emergencies in appropriate manner and contacts supervisor, Program Director as needed.  Call 911 or employ Taxi Voucher Procedure in non emergencies
  • Conduct possessions and house searches, as needed
  • Responsible for monitoring visitors during weekend visitation, including, but not limited to sign-in, check resident packages brought in during visitation, and monitoring activities of clients and visitors

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education or experience equal to the following:

  • High School diploma or equivalent      
  • Bilingual Spanish/English 
  • Minimum of one year experience working in a substance abuse treatment setting preferred
  • Knowledge of chemical addiction treatment and of 12 Step recovery process preferred
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Valid drivers license and safe driving record
  • Computer skills

Residential Specialists -PRN

Demeter, Nuevo Dia (Bilingual), Phoenix (Bilingual preferred), Boys/Girls Recovery Lodges

Residential Specialists are needed to plan and execute client activities, who may be adults, adolescents, or women w/children, interpret intake processes and participate in ensuring personal program needs are met.  Will also help maintain drug-free environment, provide life skills/resident life training and 12-step education.  Other responsibilities include monitoring/documenting intervention and responding to medical/psychiatric/behavioral emergencies.
